Despite the change in scenery, Montrose is still home to Pride events. However, in 2015, the Pride Parade charted a new course to Downtown Houston, making it easier to accommodate the expected 500,000 revelers. Parade-goers lined the streets of lower Westheimer in Montrose, the epicenter of Houston’s LGBT culture and community. The first Houston Pride Parade was held in 1979 with the theme, United We Stand.
